Reports & exports

Export any Library view to Excel or CSV in one click, save the reports you run every month, and get splits, holds and releases summaries built in.

Everything in your catalog can leave Catalyst as a proper spreadsheet: the songs you're looking at in the Library, a report you've saved, or one of the built-in reports. Files are built in the background, so a big export never holds you up, and you get a notification when it's ready.

Export the Library view#

  1. Step 1: In the Library, search, filter and sort until the list shows what you want. Choose the columns you want with Columns.
  2. Step 2: Choose Export (above the table, next to Columns).
  3. Step 3: Pick Excel (.xlsx) or CSV. Tick Include writers & splits for one row per writer on each song, with their share, whether it's controlled, their publisher, PRO and IPI.
  4. Step 4: Choose Export. The dialog shows progress and a Download button when the file is ready. You can close it: the file also appears under Reports → Recent exports and in your notifications.

The export has every song that matches, not just the page you're on, in the same order as the Library, with the columns you can see.

Built-in reports#

Open Reports in the sidebar. Choose Run next to a report for an Excel file, or ⋯ → Run as CSV. To change one, choose ⋯ → Duplicate to edit; your copy becomes a saved report.

ReportWhat it shows
Catalog summarySongs by status, with audio, incomplete splits, controlled share, active holds, cuts, releases and plays.
Splits per writerEach writer's songs, total share and controlled share, with every credit listed.
Incomplete splitsSongs whose splits don't add up to 100%, with each writer's share.
Holds per writerEvery hold by writer: the artist, who placed it, the follow-up date and whether it's still active.
Pitch → hold → cutPer writer: songs pitched, held, cut and released, and the share of pitches that became holds and holds that became cuts.
Cuts and releases per yearCuts and releases counted by year, with each one listed.
Releases by labelReleases and songs released, by label.

The pipeline reports use the pitches, holds, cuts and releases logged on each song's Pipeline tab, so they're as complete as that history.

Make your own report#

  1. Step 1: On Reports, choose New report and give it a name.
  2. Step 2: Under Rows, choose what one row is: a song, a writer on a song (for splits work), or a pipeline event (a pitch, hold, cut or release). For events you can pick which kinds and a date range.
  3. Step 3: Under Songs, use the same search and Filters as the Library, or Use a saved view. The count shows how many songs match today; the report always uses what matches when it runs.
  4. Step 4: Under Columns, choose Add columns and tick what you need: song details, writers and splits, sound (BPM, key, length…), tags, pipeline and plays. Reorder with the arrows.
  5. Step 5: Optionally Group & summarise (below), then choose the row Order and the file format.
  6. Step 6: Choose Save report. From then on, changes save as you make them. Run builds the file.

Group & summarise

Grouping adds a summary table with one row per group (each writer, status, label, year…) and the totals you pick, plus a Total row. A song by two writers counts under both writers but only once in the Total.

Share (songs)
A writer's shares added up in whole songs: 50% of four songs is 2.
Controlled share (songs)
The same, counting only shares your company controls.
Pitch → hold
Of the songs pitched, the share that got a hold.
Hold → cut
Of the songs held, the share that got cut.
Releases
Distinct releases: one album with three of your songs counts once.

The files#

  • Excel files sort and add up properly: dates are dates, percentages are numbers shown as %, lengths are minutes and seconds, and the header row stays in place as you scroll.
  • CSV files are UTF-8, so accented names come through in Excel, Numbers and Google Sheets. Percentage columns say “(%)” in the header and hold plain numbers (50 means 50%).
  • Times such as “Added” and “Last played” are in your own time zone.
  • Downloads are available for 7 days, then the file is deleted. Run the report again for a fresh copy.
