Getting started

Create your workspace, walk through the five-step setup, and invite the people who pitch and manage your catalog.

A workspace is one publishing company in Catalyst: its songs, writers, publishers, playlists and team. Everything you add belongs to that workspace and nobody outside it can see it. Most teams need one.

Create your workspace#

  1. Step 1: Go to app.joincatalyst.io and sign in with Google, or enter your email and choose Email me a sign-in link. There's no password to set: the link in your inbox signs you in.
  2. Step 2: If you're new, Catalyst asks you to create a workspace. Enter your Company name. The URL is filled in from it; you can change it now (lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens).
  3. Step 3: Choose Create workspace. You land in the setup wizard.

The setup wizard#

Setup is five short steps, one card at a time. Every step can be skipped, Enter continues, and Finish later (top right) takes you straight into the app.

Name & logo
Your company name and logo. The logo stands in as artwork for songs without their own, and heads your share pages and one-sheets. Square images work best.
Delivery address
The email address your writers send songs to. Catalyst checks it's available as you type. See Song deliveries by email.
Your team
Invite several people at once by email, as members or owners.
Default views
Ready-made lists that appear under Library in the sidebar, such as Hidden gems and Ready to pitch. Turn off any you don't want. See Default views.
Your catalog
Start an import: a spreadsheet, a folder of audio files, or past deliveries from Gmail. See Importing your catalog.

If you leave before the end, owners see Finish setting up with your progress (for example “2 of 5”) in Settings → General, with options to continue or dismiss it.

Invite your team#

Owners invite people from the setup wizard, or any time from Settings → Members → Invite someone.

  1. Step 1: Enter the person's email address and choose a role: Member or Owner.
  2. Step 2: Choose Invite. Catalyst emails them an invitation from you, with a button to join.
  3. Step 3: They open it, sign in with the invited email address, and land in the workspace.

Pending invitations are listed under Settings → Members, showing whether the email went out. Resend sends it again (and gives an expired invitation another 7 days); Copy link lets you pass the same invitation on yourself, by Slack or text. Invitations expire after 7 days and only work for the email address you invited.

Owner
Everything a member can do, plus workspace settings: name and logo, delivery address and delivery settings, default views, inviting people, and starting audio analysis for the whole catalog.
Member
Works with the catalog day to day: finds, plays and edits songs, reviews deliveries, runs imports, makes playlists and share links.
