Calendar sessions
Connect Google Calendar to see your writers' sessions, who was in the room, and which songs came out of them, with a flag for sessions that produced nothing.
Writing sessions live in your writers' calendars. Connect Google Calendar and Catalyst lists them on Sessions, works out the co-writers from each invite, and lets you link every session to the songs written in it. Catalyst only reads your calendars; it never adds, changes or deletes anything in them.
Connect Google Calendar#
- Step 1: Go to Settings → Calendar and choose Connect Google Calendar.
- Step 2: Sign in with the Google account that can see your writers' calendars (your own, or a shared team account) and allow Catalyst to see your calendars.
- Step 3: Back in Catalyst, every calendar on that account is listed. For each one, choose the writer whose sessions it holds, or Ignore it. Calendars you ignore are never read.
Sessions appear within a minute and stay in step every 30 minutes. Sync now next to the account reads changes straight away. You can connect more than one Google account with Connect another account.
Sessions#
Sessions in the sidebar lists sessions newest first, with their date and time in your time zone. Filter by writer (their own calendar, or sessions they were in as a co-writer), by dates, and by Linked, Unlinked or No song yet. The same invite on two writers' calendars is shown once.
- Writers
- The calendar's writer first, then co-writers: writers named in the event title ("Ava x Ben", "Write w/ Ben Ortiz") or invited by an email on their writer record. Names in the title that aren't writers in Catalyst are shown as "not in catalog".
- Songs
- The songs linked to the session, or how many possible songs Catalyst found.
- Status
- Upcoming, Linked, Possible song, Waiting (still within the follow-up window), or No song yet.
Link a session to its songs#
- Step 1: On Sessions, choose Link on the session.
- Step 2: Under Suggested, Catalyst lists songs by the session's writers whose DOC or delivery date falls on the session's day or soon after. Choose Link next to the right one.
- Step 3: Or search your catalog under Find a song.
Linked sessions show on the song page under the title ("Written in session · Sep 1, 2026"), and every link and unlink is kept in the song's History. To remove a link, open the session's Edit and choose ✕ next to the song.
Sessions with no song#
A past session is marked No song yet when 14 days have passed, no song is linked, and none of its writers has a song written or delivered in that time. These show on Sessions (filter No song yet) and on the Dashboard's Calendar pane, next to the week's upcoming sessions. Owners can change the number of days in Settings → Calendar.
Reconnect or disconnect#
If Google stops accepting Catalyst's access (you removed it in your Google account, or it expired), the account shows Needs reconnecting and the person who connected it gets a notification. Choose Reconnect and sign in again; nothing is lost.
To stop syncing, choose ⋯ → Disconnect next to the account (the person who connected it, or an owner). Catalyst revokes its access at Google and removes the synced sessions and their song links; each song's history keeps a note of the link. Ignoring a single calendar removes its sessions too, except ones already linked to a song.
